On April 24th some 40+ enthusiastic participants took the opportunity to attend a Crowdsourcing showcase event put on by OI Project partner’s Voka Chamber of Commerce, as part of their Grand Opening week for their new headquarters –‘Voka Box’.
During this 3 hours conversation, participants got to know what crowdsourcing is all about, where it comes from, how they should handle it, what the advantages and disadvantages are, and for what purpose they can use the crowd.
Evert Martens contrasted a more theoretical insight on crowdsourcing with some practical information on the crowdsourcing landscape within Belgium, along what Brainspot could do for their entrepreneurs. The key message was that although the landscape within Belgium isn’t gigantic, it is worth exploring it!
Siobhán Gibney Gomis gave the audience insight on InnoCentive, what InnoCentive does, and how far their international tentacles reach. When Miss Gibney Gomis talked about the NASA assignment you could feel the enthusiasm reach its peak!
For those students in attendance, the workshop was found to be thought-provoking and inspiring, especially as many are very eager to become members of the Brainspot or InnoCentive communities. It also revealed opportunities for the entrepreneurs in attendance – finally they might get an answer to their unsolvable problems!
